About

Autosafety-Uganda is a program implemented by Wanyama Autosafety Initiatives (WAI), a non-profit operating in Uganda with offices in Makindye division of Kampala district. WAI's overall objective is to positively impact communities by running various grassroots projects under the Autosafety-Uganda program with view to improve road safety and environmental health while devising clean transport and renewable energy alternatives through innovation, research and development plus advocacy. The goal is to impact all of East Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa at large.

The program has been initiated to supplement other efforts by the government and the private sector in addressing issues of road accidents; and environmental pollution associated with domestic activities, transport and industrial establishments. It involves exploring communities, mobility and industry in Uganda providing analysis of the nature and extent of different activities, the influence of population growth and how they all impact safety and environmental health within the region.

We lay emphasis on the technical bit by analysing how different activities in the transport and industrial sectors affect environmental health and safety. We raise awareness on areas that need urgent action, build capacity of communities for affordable mitigation measures and disseminate relevant information aimed at influencing policy makers for improved regulations.
